I have a new obsession.... Stencils!
I don't know about you, but anytime I can add visual interest to something... I'm all in! However, adding visual interest can sometimes be pricey, but I've discovered over the years that paint is CHEAP!!
Two years ago, I completely transformed my dated kitchen. I wanted to do it as cheap as possible, so I did all of the painting myself. I even painted the countertops. It was a TON of work, but it also saved me thousands of dollars.
I knew the paint on the cabinets would hold up great, but I wasn't so sure about the countertops. To my surprise, they actually held up really well. They just started chipping (2 years later), so I decided to touch them up while I was on summer break. I also wanted to add more visual interest. I loved the stencils on my patio table (see previous post... Link #ad #amazonaffiliatehttps://amzn.to/4eEytyw ), so decided to just go for it (That's kind of my thing... it stresses my husband out... LOL)! Take a look at how beautiful they turned out!
My husband also replaced my 20 year old sink... Did I mention how amazing he is?!? Aren't the stencils lovely? I used a metallic white for a "lace look". The decor in my house is best classified as French Country. These matched perfectly.
Final Thoughts....
Stencils are stylish!! Don't be scared to transform items with paint! It's just paint!!! Paint is removable, sand-able and cover-up-able (Shhhhh.... don't tell my students that I'm making up words!). Paint is one of the easiest and most cost effective way to transform anything. Just remember to do your homework and don't cut corners. You need to prep the surface correctly, use the correct paint and use the correct sealer.
If you follow the correct steps, you will create something beautiful and durable. You will also save money while you are doing it!
